  3. To add to this atlas existing IT solutions for detection, prediction, crisis management (intra and inter-states) and systems dedicated to reasoning and decision support.

Target

Receiving information from pre-existing software, decisional tools support international situations’ analysis and detect potential dangerous countries when a specific event occurs in defined geographic region. This analysis can be completed and developed by giving to analysts easy-to-use tool based on interpretation grids as neutral and meaningful as possible. Using international relationships’ theories and geopolitical information, the geopolitical atlas helps experts to agree on several questions as follow :

  • What can be learned from the current situation (situational awareness) ?
    Several experts’ interpretations are expressed, tested, compared using international relationships theories applied to the geopolitical atlas’ question/answer methods. Areas in crisis get displayed. Crisis origins’ understanding appears.
  • What have to be done regarding the existing situation ? Question is now how to decide and organize action plans in order to reach a final seeked situation.

How to choose this final situation and how to define it regarding options and requirements ?The final purpose remaining to fulfill items as follow :

  • To help, in a geopolitical frame, the countries which appear to be the most likely to create crisis or to get involved in a conflict potentially turning to a regional, continental or global disorder.
  • To identity major and deep evolutions of a country over several years, and to determine whether it gets involved in a crisis situation or, on the contrary, it gets out of it
  • To select and to gather these countries regarding their threats’ nature, type and extension
  • To take international relationships’ theories into account for crisis analysis’methods.
 
Methodology
